NAPA Design Solutions’ Services team is looking for a summer colleague for the role of Technical Consultant Trainee.

NAPA is a leading software provider for comprehensive 3D model-based ship design. Our solutions bring unrivaled value to our clients to ensure safe, efficient, and competitive vessel designs. Our main customers range from the biggest shipyards in the world and engineering consultancies to leading classification societies.

Did you know that NAPA customers design more than 90% of the ships built yearly?

As a Technical Consultant Trainee, you will serve as a supporting expert for NAPA’s ship design software. You will help our customers solve real-world design challenges, contribute to training materials, and gain insight into how NAPA’s Sales and Software Development teams collaborate to build long-term customer partnerships.

You will receive onboarding on how to use NAPA effectively to support customers in the global shipbuilding and maritime industry with technical questions related to NAPA’s software. You will help create example ship models for demonstrations, training, and testing; contribute to training content; and, where appropriate, assist with user training on-site at various locations in Europe. You will also support the Software Development team with testing and quality feedback and work with Sales and Product teams to improve the customer experience.

When you begin to work, you will be assigned an Onboarding buddy from the team, who will take care of a good start at your job and who will introduce the NAPA Way of working.

The role is primarily based at our Ruoholahti office in Helsinki, with the option to work remotely from time to time. The job will be full-time during the summer months (May-August) of 2027. There is also the possibility to continue working on an hourly basis after the summer.

Our working language is English, and you will get to work both independently and in a team.

Is this you?

To succeed in this job, we hope that you have:

• Major studies in naval architecture or ship structures

• An open and curious mindset towards using AI in your work. Extensive experience with AI is not required.

• Fluent written and spoken English

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience with NAPA software or other CAD/CAE tools, for example, from your studies

• Basic programming skills

• Interest in software development

Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box. We encourage you to apply and we will help you learn the rest.

What will you get when joining NAPA next summer?

At least these:

• Valuable experience to take the next steps in your career

• Lots of (more) information about ships and maritime business

• A great team

• An opportunity to get to know how we work NAPA Way: you can read how it was for Oskar Mewes (Technical Consultant Trainee period in 2024)

Ready to get on board and join the NAPA crew?

We kindly ask you to send your application, CV and a study transcript to us as soon as possible, and by 31 January 2027 at the latest, as the position will be filled once a suitable candidate has been found.
